The Uses for Walnut Wood
Walnut wood is probably best known for its color - creamy sapwood and chocolate and purplish heartwood.
Because it is so hard, dense, and beautifully grained, Walnut is a great wood to use for carving. It has been popular literally for centuries for use in making architectural elements, musical instruments, gun stocks, and furniture. The wood polishes to a fine sheen and develops a great patina through age and oxidation.
One of the most iconic visual images of wood is the use of walnut wood as a building material. Most people can picture the dark Walnut board room or library paneling and book shelves. And of course, the large board room table.
Many of the greatest treasures of American furniture you'll find in museums are made of Walnut. Examples of walnut wood furniture date back in the US to 300 years ago – and in Europe much longer than that. How's that for durability?
Walnut is a great material for use as wood flooring due to it durability. In recent years, Walnut is (re)gaining popularity as a flooring material due to it dark, rich color. It is really the only native species in the US that provides such a dark color without additional staining. Less plentiful as reclaimed Oak or Heart Pine, Walnut wood flooring is also a great choice as a reclaimed material for flooring or other reclaimed wood applications.
For the same reasons as flooring (durable, hard, and dark), Walnut is also gaining popularity as a material for countertops.
Walnut wood is a great choice for flooring, panels, furniture, and countertops.

Furniture wax on water based urethane?
What sort of furniture wax is best used on a water based urethane over a dark walnut stained oak (Veneer, plywood and solid board)
After the urethane dries, you can use any wax for the most part. I'm partial to using a paste floor wax. It goes on easy, buffs out very nicely and looks good for a long time. I'd use a minimum of 3 coats to ensure you get good coverage, plus the thickness of the final product will have a real deep finish. Later, if need be you can always turn to a furniture polish that you spray on, or you may opt to re-wax as necessary.
Good luck
