An online game is a game played over some form of computer network. Chess openings? please need help.?
i was curious and was wondering if anybody had any interesting lines in an opening that they made up or simply just an opening that they made up. i am rated 1656 and have played a variety of openings and currently play the modern defense the Sicilian dragon the kings gambit and one which i don't know the name of and a couple more but i want to look at something completely new to me and maybe help me get new ideas so my openings can get stronger if any one has any lines or openings that they like to play maybe not even original ones i would be happy if you would tell me them. thanks ![]()
P.S. i am open for anything i have played the most obscure lines in tournament play and am not afraid to try anything so please put down something
You have played active, but dubious openings so far (except the modern defense). To play this was okay because you were learning tactical play and needed experience on that matter.
But now as you have reached nearly 1700 you should play sound and good openings and study the theory well. I recommend the best openings (which Kasparov played as well):
For Black: Nimzo Indian (if White plays d4,c4,Nc3), Grünfeld Indian setup (if white plays c3 like in the Colle System, because this will deaden the white Bishop on d3 as it bites on the g6 pawn.)
,Bogo Indian (if White plays d4, c4, Nf3)
For White: Play 1.d4 as this is slightly more succesfull than 1.e4. Study positional play and get some excellent books.
You can study those openings, train on chess applets and read section Top Chess Books at this website.
